Shires Gold brass 1G tenor bell for sale. $750 (includes shipping) Excellent condition (2 very minor mute dings, usual light scratches) I can provide pictures if necessary. Griego bass .25 mouthpiece in gold plate-$92 includes shipping -very good condition, light scratches on shank Doug Elliot LT shanks H8C and H9C $15 each-these were designed to fit the schilke/Remington style receiver, old Conn 88H or Shires VE (Vintage Elkart), some of the newer Conn 88Hs with removeable leadpipes have an "R" leadpipes which they will fit, that's what I used them for. Push your tuning slide all the way in. That should get you halfway to F# in first. Next, sneak into rehearsal early and set the tuner to A=338. That should get you the rest of the way. You might have to donate a sixpack of Guiness to whoever plays your tuning note. If you've got some extra cash, get an extra tuning slide cut a half step short, you never know when this'll come up again. Umm, YMMV. But it might be a choice between a lipped down D in 7th and a lipped up F# in first, I'd want to try it both ways and see which was more secure. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Hale [mailto:jim.hale-ml@themiditrombone.net] Sent: Friday, February 22, 2008 1:03 PM To: Mailing List - Trombone-L Subject: [Trombone-l] Gliss from D3 -> F#3 We're playing a medley from the 'Mr Lucky' TV show and in the section entitled, 'March of the Cue Balls' the arranger has a gliss from D3 -> F#3. Is the ONLY way to do this, without a break, is to hit the D in a lipped down -7th and moving to 5th? I can do it, but we have several bones that can't seem to grasp the concept. Any help would be appreciated.
