Looks like all the alto, tenor and bass instruments had backward facing bells. Not very good planning for scaring the shit out of the enemy. Bagpipes would have been a better choice. Instruments, costumes, progarms are all first rate. They perform often at the Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village in Dearborn (Detroit). They also do a fair amount of traveling. http://www.dodworth.org/ A friend of mine that is a member of the band played on one of the old saxhorns that was played at Lincoln's second inauguration. They were apparently able to trace its authenticity to the event through pictures that were taken at the inauguration. I programmed a few in a brass choir concert I did a few years ago. Pretty nice arrangements. It is the music of the 26th North Carolina Regiment Band. Here is some information on the current group: http://www.jvmusic.net/26thNCRegimentBandrecreated.html Here is the publisher of the music. The book I used (set 1) is temporarily out of print. http://www.moravianmusic.org/Sheet%20Music-civil.html Paul Paul Johnston blkbltbone@earthlink.net ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Trombone-l mailing list Trombone-l@samford.edu http://maillists.samford.edu/mailman/listinfo/trombone-l End of Trombone-l Digest, Vol 37, Issue 21 ******************************************
