I have fit a large bass and a large bore tenor in it simultaneously. It has a very large accessory pocket on the side and back pack straps as well as a shoulder strap. It is used but in pretty good shape. All of the zippers are still good and there are no tears in the fabric. I wouldn't call it like new condition, I'd call it good to very good condition. I have put two trombone stands and a folding music stand in the accessory pocket before. All of that plus two trombones makes it REALLY heavy, but it fits. The Altieri page on them is here: http://www.altieribags.com/br_trombone.html New they are $250. For $150 it is yours, and I'll cover the shipping. I pretty much ignored the game itself. But the pre-game stuff was the $$. They had the Rebirth Brass Band play on the teams. Trombone Shorty solo/intro'd the East team. And a pretty familiar (but I can't remember his name) trumpet player intro'd the West team. They played their a##'s off!! I felt like I needed a nap after they were done! Another interesting pre-game note: Branford Marsalis, a female vocalist, and a guitar player (can't remember their names either) did the nat'l anthem. It was tasteful, understated and flippin' cool! Another major event (relatively) that featured trombones! Yeahhh!! I cannot find a SN list for Yamaha. Anyone > know how old it might be? > The slide is EL-H > Len Wicks > Len- There are no S/N lists for figuring out how old your Yamaha is. They actually start from scratch with every new model #. I once saw a euphonium and a tuba with the same S/N. It's also possible to have a lacquered horn and a silver one with identical #s. A company like Bach, or Conn puts the S/N on the horn near the end of its manufacture, whereas Yamaha has the number stamped when that particular part is made, like the slide receiver, or a trumpet valve cluster. They don't seem to get the desire to know when a horn was made, but they see the numbers solely as a way to track production, plus various customs rules require a number on each instrument. Many German instruments used to come into the US without any S/N, and the importer would have to engrave a number on each one before it could clear customs. The Product History pages on the Yamaha website will tell you the dates of production for each model, and the 613H was made between 1994-2006. From the lowness of the #, my WAG would be that your horn was made sometime between 1994-1996. Hope this helps! Stay away from slick molded plastic type cases; they slide out of the bungee cords. Cordura cases/gig bags work best. The FLHTC has 'arm rests' for the passenger that cradle a euph case well and make it real easy to set the euph in like a passenger and bungee it back to the trunk rack. Trombones I lay sideways across the trunk rack and bungeed down. One problem with that setup is that the case sticks out far enough on each side to block rear view mirror. I've tried tying it on in other configurations but none seemed as secure. Someone (not sure who) makes a bone bag that is a little wider and shorter than usual; the slide compartment comes up along side the bell as opposed to the usual setup where it kind of tucks in behind the bell flare. That would probably work better if you can figure out who makes the case... Very nice arrangements that are arranged by John Hoesly and published by Piston Reed Stick & Bow Publisher, P O Box 107, Convent Station, N.J. 078961-0107. Am not sure if they are still around, but you might google them and see what comes up. The arrangements I have are: Battle Cry of Freedom Stars and Stripes The Star Spangled Banner Rhapsody on Two Civil War Songs (When Johnny Comes Marching Home and Battle Hymn of the Republic) Ridin' The Reading Railroad Rag Rag Time Dance Waterbury Guards Quick Step Dixie & Bonnie Blue Flag Four Songs by Harry Von Tilzer (on a Sunny Afternoon, A Bird in a Guilded Cage, Coaxed Me To, Wait Till The Sun Shines Nellie) Bright Eyes Quick Step. Many of these tunes are not Civil War Tunes but are written in that style. If I remember correctly they had a group of other arrangements which might work. The arrangements are fun and I did this for a couple of seasons at a shopping mall concert series. later, rf Randy Fendrick Southside Chicago Seven Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, ret ------------------------------ Message: 12 Date: Tue, 19 Feb 2008 11:49:21 -0500 From: Tom Gibson Subject: Re: [Trombone-l] Civil War Bands To: thetubameister@adelphia.net, post to BoneList BoneList Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed Saxton's Cornet Band: http://saxtonscornetband.com/blog/music/ They are simply awesome:-) Really great people, too.
