The version I did had only one trombone part, really a bass and tenor part combined, although it is not marked as such. D's and Db's below the staff, possibly some C's so you will definitely need something large bore with an f attachment, but then there are some "singing" upper register parts. Schizo! Not too difficult, but the intro to "El Capitan" lays in the low register, I remember having to work on that part. We did it with piano, violin, clarinet/flute/sax, drums, and trombone sitting in costume in a gazebo on stage throughout the show, like the town band. I'm not even sure what the full instrumentation is. All in all a very interesting show, a little hard to describe but basically a series of skits or "snapshots" of the history of our industrial revolution, around the turn of the century. Of course the music reflects that time period, with pieces by Steven Foster, Victor Herbert, Sousa, etc. Hopefully someone else who has played it more recently and/or has a better memory than I can provide more info. And let us know what your impressions are once you get started. - Sue > [Original Message] > From: Dan Seager > To: > Date: 1/16/2008 1:43:46 AM > Subject: [Trombone-l] "Tintypes" > > Has anyone played a show called "Tintypes"?
