Or was it mercury? I can't remember why we'ere supposed to eat lots of fish not too much if we're children, nursing, or plan on becoming pregnant! Generally I just have to get over the "oog!" factor and try this new rage/craze y'all are tawkin' 'bout. I AM a trambone player after all. So it's kind of in-born that I like playing with green, slimey substances--be they from a slide or nose. I shouldn't discriminate, I guess. That's why a broad ,hands on, intro to arts taught by someone who is excited by arts, and hasn't yet surrendered to "kids these days", could be a good thing. First really bad issue was started by a ragweeed allergy, messed up sinuses AND lungs. If I don't deal with it soon enough, I wind up with sinus infecttions, ear infections, etc. Been using "flonase" when dealing with allergies, works great. Have tried saline nasal sprays, as well as a handful of tap water "snorted", both seem to help. Was to the doctor today for a followup visit after a bout of pneumonia, sinuses came up, and he handed me a NeilMed sinus rinse kit. Just tried it, think it's going to be a good thing, at least when the problems arise. If it allows me to stay away from the "flonase" (a steroid) it will be a good thing! My mom was blessed with overly-small drainage ducts in the sinus. (I too have this "gift". grrr!) She had a laser surgery whereby they "shaved" the openings larger. Done as outpatient in under an hour. Aside from the 14' of gauze she pulled out after a couple days. she hasn't had a sinus infection since. Alluding to my previous mention of the "oog" factor, I haven't had the cajones to have the CT scan done to see if I'm a candidate. It's covered by ins. & all. I think I'll try squirtin' warm sea water up my nose first. Besides my boys'll think it's "Cool!" #X-p Cheers! -D- www.radionoise.com <- Rock star by night www.burchinteractive.com <- Tech-nerd by day #;-) On Feb 22, 2007, at 5:36 PM, Patrick & Lisa Bates wrote: What a coincidence. The Brass Arts Quintet at Tennessee Tech University will present a free concert at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 in Wattenbarger Auditorium of the Bryan Fine Arts Building, located on the Tennessee Tech campus at 1150 N. Dixie Avenue. The program will feature quintet trumpeter Charles Decker as well as guests Greg Danner, horn and Eric J. Willie, percussion. The concert will be divided into two parts, one by the quintet performing Malcolm Forsyth?s Golyardes? Grounde, three pieces by Maurice Ravel including the haunting Piece en Form de Habenera featuring trumpeter Charles Decker, and Quintet by Michael Kamen. The second part of the program will bring in Greg Danner on horn to join the quintet to perform three works for brass sextet: Divertimento for brass and timpani by Heinrich Gattermeyer with Eric Willie on timpani, Sextet for Brass by Oskar B?hme, and Sandpoint Rag by Gunther Schuller. Tennessee Tech Professor of Trombone Joshua Hauser says of the concert, ?We always look forward to the opportunity to work with our colleagues on other instruments and we thought that this would be a perfect chance to showcase some of our favorite compositions for brass sextet.? ?I am also particularly excited by Michael Kamen?s Quintet. While mostly known as a film composer for such movies as Mr. Holland?s Opus, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Lethal Weapon, and Die Hard, he also composed several works for other mediums. The Quintet was commissioned by the Canadian Brass on 2001 and was one of his last compositions. It has a very majestic quality that is truly engaging.? ?This should be a fun and varied performance that everyone will enjoy. We look forward to seeing you here.? Members of the quintet are: Charles Decker and Chris McCormick, trumpets; Jennifer Kummer, horn; Joshua Hauser, trombone; and Winston Morris, tuba.
