Anything that gets young kids interested in trombone is great by me. I've played in quintets for kids and have played that tune, and the kids ALWAYS love it. The trombone quartet I played in out at Aspen Music Festival played an arrangement for intermission fanfare, and the crowd there loved it as well, and most of those people are seasoned listeners! That way they can obviously get a little bit of the feel of learning an instrument, and make some progress. When I was a band director, I would have done this without asking, but I guess that's why I'm not a public school teacher anymore! Dolly's husband, who was a fantastic trumpet player, once said that my wife's surprise gift to me of my Dolly Bag was one of the first made of it's kind as it not only was custom made for my Bach Strad but had a overly large accessory bag attached. It's extremely sturdy, has been through Europe twice and looks like new! I highly recommend Dolly Bags. It is a lifesaver for me, a long time sufferer from allergies. I do it routinely when I get up and before bed and any other time I think it may help retard dripping, stuffiness, etc. Sometimes the result is dramatic. I have found that using it has reduced the number of antihistamines I used to take. A few points not mentioned (or I missed them) in the instructions given above. 1) Not too much salt. You'll know if you use too much. It burns. The idea is to use about the same solution that exists in your body. 2) Lukewarm water. About body temperature for obvious reasons. 3) Lean down as described. Tip your head. Try to make the water flow from one nostril to the other. 4) When I'm done, I blow out my nose into the sink, not using tissue. Not too hard. You don't want to blow water into your ears. An alternative to the syringe is called a "neti pot." I'm not sure where you get those. This technique is also explained (using the "neti pot") in a book whose title appeared here a few weeks ago: "The Science of Breathing." Also explained is how this technique works, with good desriptions of the nose passages, etc. Roger Hecht -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. For the most part I am able to keep my sinuses clear with an over-the-counter saline solution spray mist. One brand is called "Ayr" and is packaged in a "puff" spray bottle. It is obviously more expensive than making your own salt solution but it is good for maintenance between lavages. Of course my allergies may be less severe than yours. ( 3 or 4 ) After nothing the drud/medical world did to help, I got a Neti pot and GOOD sea salt. It's a very good and gentle start at beginning to solve ( Or solve.) sinus problems. The Neti pot worked and still does work. Recently I tried the NeilMed, Sinus Rinse kit. It's more along the lines of the video that was posted this morning about nasal rinsing. This one works very well. Do your own research. Google "Nasal Irrigation" etc.. BUT ... Thus it contains all the mineral content of sea water, including bromides and iodides. Of course it is mainly sodium chloride but the trace components are what distinguishes it from ordinary table salt.
