I suspect that if I were to follow up that they would attempt to coerce me into receiving a larger payment for services with the agreement that I would refund by check the difference, whereas their payment would turn out to be fraudulent. Is there a good reporting mechanism for these? Erik ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (from: perrykogan@myway.com) Dear Erik, I am pleased to contact you, my name is Perry Kogan from Belgium.I saw your Biography as a Trombone Teacher (trombonist), hence, my purpose of contacting you. I just mail to confirm if my 14yrs old son (Paul) can join you in your tutor so that you can help me teach him how to play Trombone. I so much would love his dreams to come true as a very good player and I am ready to support him both morally and financially. I will want you to give me the price of the tutor for 6 months as I will want the tutor to hold 3 times in a week and last for 1 hour daily. Note that my son once had a tutor last October who lost his wife in a car accident and decided to stop teaching inorder to take proper care of his family. Additionally, I would like to know the location (address) where you normally tutor your students, so that I can have idea of where the lessons will be taking place as we are presently out of US,but arrangement have been concluded for Paul to come to US. In 2004 the Bethlehem Moravian Trombone choir turned 250, he was the Guest Conductor and even did a special arraignment of his Moravian Chorale Cycle. He lent me his Conn 62H to use during the Festival, since he had seen the Holton I was using had seen better days and had no F valve. The Conn had one of those fake bullet hole stickers on the bell, shows what a fun guy he is, on top of the playing ability. I have a friend that adverts for guitar lessons on craigslist. He says every time he updates his listing he gets about 4-6 of these "proposals". Very frustrating. ...but easier/less stressful just to hit the delete-key. A good reporting mech. for most of these is Snopes.com. This one's a little harder because it's a bit more obscure. But basically whenever I get one of these, I grab a couple key words (or words I think are prominent) in the message and search for them on Snopes.com. I'd say +/-90% of the time, some info comes back on it. And it's never good. I am a Middle School Band Director and am wanting to start a Trombone Choir at my school. We are grades 5 - 8. I need some suggestions on easier trombone ensemble music that I can play with these kids. The easier the better because they are weak players in grades 6,7,8. I started the beginners and most of them can already out play a vast majority of the kids in the school. Thanks for your help! I do recall that Robert King has some arrangements of Bach Chorales for 4 trombones. This is a good place to start. I did an arrangement for 4 trombones of Three Dances by Susato that might suit your needs. These Renaissance dances are basically harmophonic and not rhythmically complex. The first trombone part goes to an occasional G but does not stay up there. It is available through http://cooppress.hostrack.net. I wish you much success.
