A small amount is used to coat and protect the inner part of the outer slides and it lasts I would guess from six months to a year. I think I've used it three times. I use it with some kind of liquid silicone on the stockings, such Superslick, and the slide is super fast and lasts for about five days. Two of three years ago someone in this forum announced that this product is going to be discontinued, which was true. I panicked and bought a case of six of them from the company. I gave one to my repairman and one of them will last me a lifetime. . Message-ID: <380-22007132414851859@earthlink.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Folks, a fellow trombonist has revealed to me his interest in selling his one-owner FE Olds Studio trombone purchased new by him in 1951. A serial number search dates it to late 1949. The horn was professionally refinished about 20 years ago, carefully wrapped in plastic and put into storage. The specs list this bone as a model T-15 with 7 1/2" nickle-plated bell and dual bore hand slide .485/.500. The owner has the original brochure which came with the horn as well as the invoice. Websites advertise this trombone featuring the "Brilliant Bell." Gene compares it to a Sterling Silver King 2B in size and playing characteristics. Anybody have any idea what the asking price should be? Anybody with an obsession for FE Olds trombones interested in seriously talking with the owner? (He has email but is not subscribed to this list.) Let me know and I will forward to him. Trombone is located in Greensboro, NC. However, they'll have to sit in the back.
