I had it for two months, and really wasn't able to play decently until about six months from the onset (some would argue that I have never played decently, but I digress...). Problems with my playing since then have included a lack of control in playing pedal tones and a "double-buzz" effect from low Db down to about F#. Strangely, it hasn't really seemed to affect the higher register (ie, "IGSOY" range) too much, though I don't think I've regained a good solid center to my sound yet. I have found that buzzing on the mp (standard exercises and even some Rochut etudes), can really help in strengthening the muscles. While I had it, the doctors suggested I go to physical therapy for my face, but agreed that trying to buzz on the mp or even attempt to play would be good therapy. I was 30 when I had it and was told that was at the young end of the range. It seems a bit too young for someone to have it who is only a young teen. Never learned your scales or modes, did you, young man! Just screwed around in class, as I recall." And the street musician thinks, "Oh, my God. It's Mr. Blanchard! My old music teacher!". I think that is a hilarious cartoon, and would like to be able to post a site that has the cartoon on it, as we are not allowed to post any attachments.
