List" Message-ID: <005501c63a4b$15e22c20$6501a8c0@bigbox> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Dear 'boners: I just came home from a visit with Dorothy Crisafulli which was both refreshing [to see how well and healthy she is] and enlightening [to discover some of Frank's old instruments which are still in her possession.] I told Dorothy I would mention the bass trumpet on the list. I have no idea what a good and appropriate price might be, but I will trust to the inherent wisdom of the list members. Here are some details of the horn: Bach Stradivarius Bass Trumpet in B flat, marked Elkhart and with serial number of 96477. Other players who have used this instrument include Rex Martin and Jim Gilbertsen. It is in good, playable shape [perhaps 75% - needs a bit of care, but no repairs seem necessary.] If anyone has an idea of a valid price for this horn, or wants to make a bid on it, or just has information on its provenance, let me know. I will pass serious bids/offers on to Dorothy. How about... Makin' Whoopee (Arrangement not labeled but attributed to George Roberts) Bye Bye Blues (Rob McConnell) - may be in 1st part but sounds better on bass bone Beatrice (arranged by Wayne Coniglio) plus the Airmen of Note have an interesting arrangement of "You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch" and if you're really a glutton for punishment, "I Ain't Gonna Ask No More" (Toshiko Akiyoshi, written for contrabass bone) I also recently read "Get Out Of Town" which I think came from the Kenton band. An arranger in Maryland whose name escapes me wrote "I Can't Get Started" for bass bone. Tim Hall Bass Bone/Co-Leader, San Diego Concert Jazz Band Bass Bone, Ira B.
