Beginning at the lowest priced "beginner" model were: - Ambassador ("beginner") - Special (two-tone bell - partially brass and partially nickel-silver...usually with a nickel-silver flare) - Studio (nickel plated - similar to the two models listed above) - Super (nickel-silver bell wreath with engraving / fluted slide / duo bore / This was the model played by Frank Assunto in the 1950's- early '60's - Dukes of Dixieland) - Recording (red brass and nickel-silver ONLY (no yellow brass parts at all) / heavily engraved / fluted slide / duo bore / optionally available with an F-attachment) - Super Star (basically a silver-plated-over-regular-yellow-brass F-attachment non-fluted slide version of the "Recording") - Opera (large bore / ALL NICKEL-SILVER / (large shank) / available optionally with an F-attachment) - various bass trombones and "semi-bass" trombones...some with tuning-in-the-slide...and Olds made the first "production" in-line independent double-rotor bass trombone - They also made the VERY BEST valve trombone I've ever played (' have owned Kings, Conns, etc...NOW own an Olds, and would not "trade" for another) ' too much information? ...corrections? ...amplifications? ;^) From: Jeff Albert Date: Tue, 01 Feb 2005 00:32:27 -0600 To: Cc: , Trombone List Subject: [TROMBONE-L:3811] Re: Identifying Gussieboy Gussieboy's style is familiar if you have been on the list for a while, but it doesn't really matter. I'm sorry I brought attention to it to begin with. Just ignore his seemingly drunken ramblings, and it will cease to be fun for him and he will quit being rude. Or maybe even better, he will sober up and feel better about his life and return to his peaceful productive self. Again, I am sorry I started it. jeff Peter W. For that matter what's a performance case? Can you play the horn without taking it out! Can't people just take the few minutes necessary to get things right. Mailman is an Open Source list processor that offers several advantages over Listproc - other than the code being newer than four years old. It will feature web-based user self-management and searchable web archives. You will be able to use the web interface to set options, change email addresses, postpone your subscription........ It is used by, among others, Apple.com, Dell.com and MIT.edu. A link to Mailman's home page is: http://www.gnu.org/software/mailman/index.html Trombone-L is one of the first to move and we'll be subscribing all current members to the new list processor within the next week. Within that time period, you will receive a Welcome message from the new list. It will not be active at that time, but the email will contain web links to the User Management pages and an auto-generated password to allow access to them. It will also contain the mailing address for the new list - trombone-l@maillists.samford.edu. As will probably be pointed out to me, that is an alias for server5.samford.edu - so you'll actually be able to post the address you are currently using. The mass user import feature will not allow us to import all current Listproc options, but I will attempt to set default options that will accommodate the majority of users. All digest users will be imported as such, non-digest users as such, etc. We will activate the new list on Friday February 11, 2005. That will give members a chance to review their options using the web interface before the new list goes active. On that date we will redirect all posts to the new list. We will be able to import the archives that we have on-site - from March 2004 till present. I still need to talk to Chris at Trombone.org about keeping the archives previous to that date at his site. We won't be able to convert the format of those archives to Mailman's format. Hopefully this will be - in computerese - "transparent to user". Any questions or comments can be addressed to me off-list at jmdanner@samford.edu Mearl Danner List Owner - Trombone-L From: Larry White Date: Tue, 01 Feb 2005 21:47:25 -0800 To: Cc: Trombone-l Subject: [TROMBONE-L:3820] Re: I'd like to see this...
