The sound is stuffy and hard to produce, and pitch is very sharp on these note. Through the other notes the instrument sounds fine and responsive. Can anything be done repairwise? < It could be that the mouthpiece supplied with this instrument is way too small; I have seen that effect from, for example, using a Bach 12C mouthpiece on a large Euphonium. If the mouthpiece is OK, it may be that the leadpipe is constricted. You may want to have your repair guy take a look to see if the solder joints were made with so much solder that the tube diameter is changed. Hope this helps. Also check for an obstruction in the second branch just beyond the main bottom bow, maybe a piece of paper or packing material. Try blowing really hard into the leadpipe without using a mouthpiece. Good Luck! I have an Olds 0-99, and the parts are one in the same with the Bach tubas. You could got to Bach $$$$$$$, or have the parts ordered through Allied, which would be a little better priced.
