I understand the K and O mean that it is fitted with the K valve and open wrap. However, it sticks in my mind that bad things have been said on this list about the K valve. Can anyone elaborate on just exactly what the problem is with them? Cheers! Keith in Bb/F/D --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). If you like it a lot and it's a good deal, I don't see any reason not to buy it. If it's a really good Bach otherwise, you can always swap out the valves for something else later. ===== Gabe Langfur Boston, MA ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Feb 2004 09:31:32 -0500 From: Roger Hecht Subject: Re: Bach 50 K O At 03:31 AM 2/13/2004 +0000, Keith Marr wrote: >I've seen a Bach 50 K O Bb/F/Gb/D Bass for sale a decent price. I'm not an afficianado of Bach horns one way or the other, but this is a very nice horn and by far the best Bach I've ever played--not that I've played that many. So far (2 years) the valve has caused no trouble and it's worked very well. The biggest problem is its bulk, and that doesn't bother her. In our vernacular here down south, both of these guys are MAJOR BIG FELLAS. Having been an avid jazz piano fan for almost 30 years, I can certainly respect Ben's piano artistry, as he is one jazz pianist that has the technique to deliver whatever he desires and what is required for any musical situation, and Roger Bissell is one of those players that I can wholeheartedly endorse to all of my students as he demonstrates everything that I teach every week---beautiful sound, exquisite phrasing, just all around wonderful musicianship. This is one disc that needs to be in every trombone player's library---in fact, it needs to be in every musician's library, period. Go to www.gemtone.com and order yours today. This one is a real keeper. Paul D.
