Cornelius Bumpus, a = fine tenor player, played in the horn section on their last several = albums, and he suffered a heart attack on a plane en route to California = from New York. The plane made an emergency landing in Kansas City, but = it was already too late. =20 Cornelius played a lot with the Doobie Bros. in the early 1980s, as well = as numerous other bands. He was only 58, and left us way to soon. Not specifically for Shire...I've had all my Shires leadpipes opened up so that the m'pce goes in too far anyway, so I can experiment w/ m'pce depths. (VERY important; usually quite overlooked...) I haven't heard any complaints about that from other Shires-ites. However, I'm sure the plumbers' tape would fix that. You'll use WAY more than you think...it compresses and bonds together under pressure, thus no leak w/water pipes...but it works great and it last for months under normal use. I really think the term "genius" is very overused in our society, but in this guy's case I think it is completely justified. Thanks, Dave, for sharing this one. He's great! I will be very careful from now on before I ever describe myself as a "horn player".
