Thanks Jamie. Steve C UK ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 2004 08:05:30 -0600 From: Jay Heltzer Subject: Audition Opportunity The following is an announcement of an audition opportunity of the unique kind. Tales & Scales, based in Evansville, IN, is a musical storytelling ensemble of the highest creative level. I spent a year and a half with this group from 96-97 touring the country and it was a life changing experience. Although the last 9 years have had bass trombonists performing, a tenor trombonist with a good low register would work as well. If you have specific questions, I may be able to help, but feel free to contact the artistic director who would be happy to answer as well. These days, a salaried position is hard to come by. If you want to do something different, unique, and creative, this may be for you. Check it out. Jay Heltzer jhfloyd@earthlink.net ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Tales & Scales Announces auditions for Teaching Artists Starting salary ~ $18,000 + 2 months paid vacation + optional health insurance Auditions will be held in Evansville, Indiana, April 2,3,12,15 &16, 2004 Additional audition times and locations may be available upon request Resume Submission Deadline: March 15, 2004 Employment begins September, 2004. Send Resumes to: Deborah Sunya Moore, Artistic Director For more information, call: Phone: 800/644-6483; Email: info@talesandscales.org http://www.talesandscales.org Tales & Scales, founded in 1986, is a full-time nationally touring performing arts ensemble based in Evansville, Indiana. We commission new works each year that combine story and movement with new music (working with composers such as George Tsontakis and Jon Deak) into a performance experience that is designed to ignite the imaginations of young audiences. Tales & Scales gives over 200 performances each year in performing arts centers, with symphony orchestras and in school outreach programs, reaching 200,000 kids each year. Tales & Scales has performed with the Chicago, Boston Symphony, Atlanta, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras, at the New Victory Theater in NYC, for the Grant Park Music Festival, The Chautauqua Institution and the SmithsonianÕs Discovery Theater in D.C. among many other performance venues across the nation. T&S workshops have been presented for the Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music, CIM, Oberlin Conservatory, and the American Symphony Orchestra League and for orchestral musicians around the country. We are looking for musicians who have experience and a passion for working with young people. Four Teaching Artists will be hired by Tales & Scales to form a second company. This second troupe will both perform T&S Musictales and lead workshops and residencies for school students. Teaching artists will be trained by T&S, but past experience performing for and working with youth is preferred. While all instrumentalists are encouraged to audition, Tales & ScalesÕ current instrumentation is bass trombone, flutes, percussion and clarinets/saxophone. ------------------------------ End of TROMBONE-L Digest - 27 Jan 2004 to 28 Jan 2004 (#2004-29) ****************************************************************
