I just looked for it and can't find it, but as I remember, the personnel is A. Herseth, R. Schilke - Trumpets; Hugh Cowden (sp.?) - Horn; Frank Crisafulli - Trombone; and A. Jacobs - Tuba. Someone else on the list may know more details, as far as repertoire and record label, etc. I'm sure someone from the current brass section - perhaps Jay Friedman, since he's been around awhile - would be helpful with pointing you in the right direction for researching the group. There was a 10-inch red plastic LP issued by Audiophile Records, apparently recorded in 1954. At some point during the 1970s, Renold Schilke had a new pressing made, which he sold in his shop. My favorite track on the record was the first movement of the Beethoven String Quartet op. 18, no. 2. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of the record. >Also, who were the founding members aside from Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Chicowicz, >and Mr. Schilke? Could this make the horn blow more freely? Thanks Mark and all, The first thing Iād look for is to see if the valve is all the way open, with your thumb off of the trigger. Then, if youāre valve is anything like the one Iāve got on my 607-F, it canāt be bored out. There isnāt any spare metal in the valve, itself, and there isnāt any spare metal in the tubes, used to attach the valve to the rest of the trombone tubing. Shine a flashlight down the tubes and LOOK at the ports while you operate the valve. Only then do you know if they're right. Replace or adjust the cork or neoprene stops based on what you see that way. ------------------------------ End of TROMBONE-L Digest - 6 Jan 2004 to 7 Jan 2004 (#2004-8) *************************************************************
